Sloppy Joe & Biscuit Casserole

Ingredients:

-2 celery ribs

-6 green onions (or 1 small yellow onion)

-1 to 2 lbs. ground beef

-1 teaspoon onion powder

-1 teaspoon oregano

-1 teaspoon salt

-1-1/2 teaspoons unsweetened cocoa powder

-1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce

-3 tablespoons steak sauce

-1 (10- to 12-ounce) package frozen peas/carrots blend (or other veggies)

-1 (4.5-ounce) can mushroom pieces & stems, drained

-1 tube canned biscuits

-1 cup shredded colby cheese

Directions:

Begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. Chop celery and onions into small pieces. In a large skillet, brown ground beef with the celery and onions; drain well and return to medium heat.

Sprinkle onion powder, salt, oregano and cocoa powder over the meat mixture. Add tomato sauce and steak sauce to the meat and stir well.

Mix in frozen vegetables and mushroom pieces. Heat an additional 5-7 minutes.

Pour mixture into a 9″ x 12″ baking dish. Separate individual canned biscuits and place on top of casserole.

Sprinkle cheese over casserole and bake uncovered for 15 minutes or until biscuits begin to brown. Serve immediately.
