Winner: The Great Dinner Party Giveaway AND an extra surprise holiday discount from Pistoulet & Pfaltzgraff!

17 Dec

Hello everyone!!

I apologize for not getting this posted yesterday — Southern Illinois got smacked with an ice freeze Wednesday night and I kept the boys home yesterday. (Jamie’s birthday was Wednesday and he got new light-up sneakers, so he was SO indignant that he had to stay home from school Thursday and not show them off! Needless to say, it was *quite* a day for us holed up in our house after that!)

But you don’t want to read about THAT — you want to know who the winner was of The Great Dinner Party Giveaway, don’t you??

Well, I am proud to announce…

…the WINNER of the beautiful 16-piece stoneware Pfaltzgraff Pistoulet dinnerware set

…not to mention the BONUS Hostess Set including lidded sugar bowl, spouted creamer and adorable polka-dotted butter dish…

Donna Sigler! Come on down!!!

Donna has left so many supportive comments on the Spirit of Pistoulet and Pfaltzgraff Facebook pages since this contest began! I was so happy to read her name after the random drawing. I’m sure she’ll be celebrating the spirit of Jana’s wonderful books very soon! Meanwhile, here was a comment Donna wrote on Pfaltzgraff’s wall of why she’d love to win the dishes:

“I would like to to win the Pistoulet dishes by Pfaltzgraff because not only are they just beautiful, but I have no dishes since my divorce. I eat off of paper plates.”

Well, throw away those paper plates, Donna! Santa’s bringing you some fancy new ones! Merry Christmas, and congratulations from The Red Kitchen Project, The Spirit of Pistoulet, Pfaltzgraff, Lifetime Brands and!

I’d like to also say a big thank-you to everyone who entered and shared our links with others. As a wonderful surprise, you don’t have to walk away empty-handed, either! Read on!

Congrats to Donna! I think the pattern is so cheerful, and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it for many years. I like a pattern that’s versatile enough to mix with what you already have. Makes it a little easier to “make do” and be patient until you can afford to buy more of it. Pistoulet certainly fits that description. I don’t know if that’s what they had in mind when it was designed, but it certainly is admirable if it was, and definitely inspires my respect. Not everyone can just go out and buy everything all at once. Most of us have to “creep up on it” a little at a time, a piece here and a piece there. Merry Christmas, Red Kitchen & Pistoulet!

🙂 Thanks for the comment, Mom, and that’s a great point, too. I know they did design the dinnerware to look like it was acquired over many years in an old kitchen cupboard, which I love about it because it means with one single china pattern, I can create loads of different looks for recipes here on the blog! I also did exactly what you were talking about, too — I started out by mixing what little tidbits I could afford here and there of new Pistoulet in with my older Homer Laughlin Fiestaware that I already had in similar shades, and then just slowly phased out the Fiesta until I had plenty of the PFZ. Took several years, but it was a great way to do it for a poor twenty-something! 🙂 Merry Christmas!!

Thank you Gracies Mom!! I thought the very same thing.. since I can’t afford to by more pieces (and boy oh boy are there some great ones) I thought about what Gracie said and adding Fiest when I can afford it.. or odds and ends that I can find a great price.. I know one of the first pieces I’d like to add is the teapot… it’s the cutest ever!! I’m still so excited about winning.. I never in a million years thought that I would.. I think I’m still in shock!! Merry Christmas to you all!!
