On A Mission From Blog: The Farmers’ Market Project

23 Jun

Today’s post is actually about a project on someone else’s website, but I really think it’s neat.

Ginny Skalski of North Carolina is about to embark on a 30-day mission to eat ONLY food that came from the local farmers’ markets of NC’s famous Research Triangle.

She’s saying goodbye to fast food, junk food, and anything else she can’t get from local farmers. For 30 straight days.

Best of all, she’s documenting her daily experiences online where the rest of us can find encouragement, lend her support, and, if I know Ginny, have some good laughs in between.

Ginny & The Research Triangle.

The Farmers’ Market Project mission reminds me a little bit of Jenn Campus (You may know her better as foodie blog mogul The Leftover Queen,) who posts her daily adventures in boldly trying new foods that are healthy, environmentally-friendly, and supportive of local commerce.

Yet at the same time, the very unique spin Ginny’s given to her new blog makes me eager to read her posts and perhaps, along the way, learn how to become more like the very finest variety of metro-hippies there is.  🙂 (It also makes me incredibly jealous of the wealth of local farmers’ markets Ginny seems to have at her perusal!)

Love it. Can’t wait. Go check it out today.

Wow, thanks for the awesome shout out, Gracie. I’m really nervous about this project and how it will unfold. Today is day one and I already realize I am in no way prepared for this. I didn’t buy plan my first shopping trip very well, so the next two days are going to be filled with some interesting combinations until I can get back to market Saturday morning.

Your eggs looked good today. Never underestimate the convenience of living off of hard boiled eggs. 😉

Very cool Ginny. I can’t believe a skinny guy like me knows so many cool food girls!
